The phenology of flowering three species of lime (Tilia sp.) in Banja Luka city
The aim of this paper is analysis of the period of flowering of linden species (Tilia L.) during one vegetation season, in the area of Banja Luka. The species which were included in the study are the following: Tilia platyphyllos Scop., Tilia cordata Mill. and Tilia argentea Moench. The field research was conducted in three sites: The Park Mladen Stojanovic, University City and Starcevica. Climate, soil, orographic and vegetation characteristics of the research objects were collected. The mentioned sites, although located relatively close to each other and therefore belonging to the same climatic region, provide a variety of the environmental conditions for the growth and phenology of the examined species. During the research, five phases of flowering were examined, in order to determined influence of habitat conditions to phenophase of flowering, and to determine genetic diversity of analyzed trees. The results indicate that the beginning and duration of certain phenophases of flowering of the examined species mainly depend on the species and habitat conditions. On the basis of phonological observations, there are differences in the duration of the period of flowering of the analyzed trees in the same locality. The results may be useful in assessing the quality of seeds and define the time and manner of their collection.
